Information taken from Wikipedia Leroy Eldridge Cleaver (August 31, 1935 – May 1, 1998) was an American writer, and political activist who became an early leader of the Black Panther Party . In 1968, Cleaver wrote Soul on Ice , a collection of essays that, at the time of its publication, was praised by The New York Times Book Review as "brilliant and revealing" Cleaver stated in Soul on Ice : "If a man like Malcolm X could change and repudiate racism, if I myself and other former Muslims can change, if young whites can change, then there is hope for America." Cleaver went on to become a prominent member of the Black Panthers, having the titles Minister of Information and Head of the International Section of the Panthers, while a fugitive from the United States criminal justice system in Cuba and Algeria. Kathleen Cleaver Neal was born in Dallas, Texas on May 13, 1945. Her parents were both activists and college graduates of the University of Michigan . Her father was a sociology professor at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas , and her mother earned a master's degree in mathematics . Three years after Cleaver was born, her father, Ernest Neal, accepted a job as the director of the Rural Life Council of Tuskegee Institute in Alabama , and they moved to a predominantly black community beside the campus. Six years later, Ernest joined the Foreign Service . The family moved abroad and lived in such countries as India , Liberia , Sierra Leone , and the Philippines . Spending time in India exposed Kathleen to different beliefs, including socialism, communism, and nationalism. The family returned to the United States after her brother died from leukaemia and the family broke apart. Seale is the eldest of three children. He has a younger brother, Jon, and a younger sister, Betty. He was born in Liberty, Texas to George Seale, a carpenter, and Thelma Seale (née Traylor), a homemaker. The Seale family lived in poverty during most of Bobby Seale's early life. After moving around Texas , first to Dallas , then to San Antonio , and Port Arthur , his family eventually relocated to Oakland, California when he was eight years old. Seale attended Berkeley High School , then dropped out and joined the United States Air Force in 1955. He was discharged for bad conduct three years after he joined for fighting with a commanding officer at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota . Information taken from Wikipedia Huey Percy Newton (February 17, 1942 – August 22, 1989) was a revolutionary African-American political activist who, along with Bobby Seale , co-founded the Black Panther Party in 1966. He continued to pursue graduate studies, eventually earning a Ph.D. in social philosophy. In 1989 he was murdered in Oakland, California by Tyrone Robinson, a member of the Black Guerrilla Family .  Early life and education Newton was born in Monroe, Louisiana , in 1942 during World War II, the youngest of seven children of Armelia (Johnson) and Walter Newton, a sharecropper and Baptist lay preacher. His parents named him after Huey Long , former Governor of Louisiana . Ouachita Parish had a history of violence against blacks since Reconstruction. This was a communication letter Eldridge Cleaver sent out to his followers who broke away from the Oakland branch of the BPP. It was later discovered that Cleaver was probably working with federal investigators. This situation was complicated, so I will respond more about it later.
